Ironic

It's been a while
I thought I was done
I don't know
why
I let them
read my work.

But they think
I should write
more
and they won't
stop
until I do.

You see,
this is what happens
when you open your life
and your blog
 to your students.
They see
inside.
See things you may have
missed.
And push
YOU
just as you push
them.

And that
is
irony.

  1. I love how you used verse to share your thoughts about writing. When we write and share our work it does push us forward. Sharing writing with students while a times a bit daring opens doors for us all.

  2. It sounds as if you're receiving a huge compliment from your students. And I wonder if you'll share this with them? It's a lovely, contemplative poem.

  3. Ironic, yes.

A great little poem to capture a big truth inside a tiny package. Thanks for writing today, Ruth

  4. You're back! And you shared with your students--who are making you write! :)
And since you're talking irony....I think I may have (ahem) nudged you to start a blog and to write regularly....and I believe (oh dear) that it's been quite some time since I've written....and now (here it comes) the fact that you are writing and sharing it with students is nudging me (ouch)....maybe it's time I sucked it up and just started again....
