Summer

I think about what to write
It feels like nothing has been going on
Nothing out of the ordinary that is
Is that bad?
Is that wrong?

I worry about people thinking I am lazy
All summer off
I don't have much to show
Is that bad?
Is that wrong?

I wonder about the future
How can I heal the hurts
Smooth the path
Is that bad?
Is that wrong?

Then I realize I am in the right place
A place of calm and rest
Time to get my strength back
It is not bad.
It is not wrong.

  1. So right! And the repetition and rhythm throughout the poem is lovely.

  2. Love the style of your poem, it had me looking ahead for the repeating line. Take the time to enjoy, that's the beauty of summer.

  3. Yes, you need the summer. It doesn't look like anything is going on, but there is plenty. That rejuvenating time is so necessary, like sleep is necessary. Loved the repetition.

  4. I agree with the others--this is time well-spent, even if we can't say exactly what it is we've been doing.
Wanna get together and do nothing?

  5. Don't regret the "nothingness". Something is happening in your brain... that is something!
